Are You Allowed to Rent Property as a Member of an HOA?

Some HOAs in certain parts of the country may not allow owners to rent out their properties to tenants, or they may limit the number of rental properties that are allowed in the community. If you're interested in buying a property that will be used only for renting out to a tenant, be sure to double check the community HOA bylaws to ensure they don't conflict with your investment plan. If you already own the property and are interested in renting it out instead of selling, it's also a good idea to double check, even if you think you already understand the HOA rules.
